The stochastic resonance phenomenon in a low-pass filter circuit driven by a multiplicative and signal-modulated trichotomous noise is investigated. Under linear system theory, applying the statistical properties of the trichotomous noise, the analytical expression of the output amplitude gain (AG) is derived. It is shown that the AG is a non-monotonic function (NF) of the frequency of the input signal, an NF of the values of the capacitance and resistance, as well as an NF of the amplitude and flatness of the trichotomous noise. The cut-off frequency and band-width of the system becomes larger than those of the noise-free system.
